Sooyoung Kim, D.M.D.
Endodontist in Mountain View, CA
Dr. Sooyoung Kim has been providing excellent endodontic care in the Bay Area since 2012. She received her certificate in Endodontics from UCSF in 2012 and received her DMD from Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She is proficient in microscopic endodontics, microsurgeries (apicoectomies and resorption repairs), and 3D imaging (CBCT).
Prior to her training in dentistry, she received her Bachelor of Science degree at MIT and PhD in Biomedical Engineering at Boston University. Although engineering and research was fascinating to her, she found herself wanting to serve people in a more direct way, and decided to pursue dentistry and endodontics. Her family background also influenced her, as many of her family members are healthcare providers (dentists and medical doctors). Her engineering training helps her to be a clinician who can best use her mind and hands for her patients, as her alma mater (MIT) motto says “Mens et Manus.”
Dr. Kim strives to become a compassionate endodontist not only in taking care of patients in private practice but also in serving patients who cannot afford endodontic care. She has been regularly volunteering at the Samaritan House free dental clinic. She is a two time recipient of the Samaritan House volunteer excellence award.
She has lived in Sunnyvale since moving from Millbrae in 2013. Her daughter went to Homestead High School. Her family enjoys traveling in their spare time. Dr. Kim is also fluent in Korean. She is a member of the American Association of Endodontics, American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and Santa Clara County Dental Society.
